Botox Q & A

What is Botox?

Botox is a cosmetic injection that can temporarily reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles around your eyes and on your forehead. Wrinkles develop from the constant folding of your skin by muscles when you make a facial expression. As you get older, collagen production in your skin decreases, making your skin less resilient, resulting in visible lines and wrinkles.

Botox injections temporarily halt the movement of muscle under your skin to stop the formation of the lines and wrinkles.

What can I expect during Botox injections?

Grochmal Eye Center performs your Botox injections using an ultra-fine needle that injects a small amount of the medication into the targeted area. To minimize any discomfort, your specialist numbs the area undergoing treatment before the injections.

Botox injections take 15 to 30 minutes to complete. While you may experience some redness at the site of your injections, these side effects should disappear quickly, and you can resume your normal activities afterward.

You should start to notice an improvement in your look 24 to 48 hours after treatment. Your Botox injections keep the lines and wrinkles away for three to six months, and you can maintain your look with regular touch-ups.

What are fillers?

Fillers are a cosmetic injection that adds volume under your skin. In addition to collagen, the subcutaneous fat also decreases as you get older, resulting in saggy and wrinkly skin. Fillers replace the lost volume to smooth out lines and wrinkles and enhance features such as your lips and cheeks.

Grochmal Eye Center uses the Juvéderm® line of dermal fillers.

What can I expect during filler injections?

Filler injections at Grochmal Eye Center take about 30 minutes. Before a session begins, your practitioner first applies a numbing agent to your skin to minimize discomfort. Then, using a very fine needle, your cosmetic specialist at Grochmal Eye Center injects the filler into very precise areas of your face to get the desired look.

Redness and bruising are common side effects following filler injections, but they should disappear quickly, and there’s no need for any downtime following your cosmetic treatment. You should see the results of your filler injections immediately, and they typically last six to nine months, or longer.

For a more dramatic yet natural-looking anti-aging treatment, you can combine Botox and fillers for a liquid facelift.
