Eye Lid Surgery (Blepharoplasty, Oculoplastics)

Oculoplastics, Medical Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery can be performed for both medical and cosmetic reasons. Oculoplatsics focuses on complex medical treatments that can include repairs of tear duct obstructions, orbital fractures, and the removal of tumors in and around the eyes, and eyelid reconstruction. Grochmal Eye Center provides state-of-the-art treatments and eye lid surgery for these more serious conditions and will treat you with personal care.

Blepharoplasty, Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty focuses on cosmetic treatment of the appearance of your eyelids, although it can be more than cosmetic; drooping eyelids can affect your sight. As you age, your eyelids stretch, excess skin and fat can build up, and the muscles supporting them weaken.  The result can be droopy upper lids or bags under your eyes, increasing the appearance of age.

In addition to correcting visual aberrations and conditions within the eyes that affect sight, Dr. Jay C. Grochmal offers eyelid surgery to eliminate droopiness of the upper lids (ptosis), which can impair your vision. The procedure can also reduce the appearance of puffiness and under-eye bags that often occurs with age, making eyelid surgery useful for cosmetic enhancement and giving the area around the eyes a more youthful, refreshed aesthetic.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

With eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), excess skin in the upper eyelids is trimmed away to get rid of droopy skin that may be affecting your vision. The remaining skin is lifted and pulled taut, giving you a less tired appearance as well as a better view. Incisions from upper eyelid surgery are made along the crease of the lids, so any residual scarring is virtually invisible.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

Lower eyelid surgery addresses the bags and puffiness on the eyelids. Dr. Grochmal will remove excess skin, fat, and muscle underneath the eyes and smooth out the remaining skin. This gives the area a more refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. Incisions from lower eyelid surgery are made beneath the lower eyelashes, leaving any residual scarring well-hidden.
